Mohonk Lemon Squeezer Hike
A spectacular 6 mile hike on a section of the Appalachian Trail
Get ready —for a day that you will leave you feeling great in both body, mind and spirit! The beautiful Shawangunk Ridge is the setting of our newest great hike. This challenging hike/rock scramble will get you using your arms, legs and mind to climb over giant boulders, squeeze through narrow crevices and wiggle your way through a few rock caves. Along the way you there will be beautiful places to rest and enjoy the views of Mohonk and the Shawangunks Mountains.
Before reaching the Labyrinth trailhead we will hike on a gentle carriage path up to the breathtaking Mohonk House. Then we start climbing! We’ll work together to encourage each other to move through this unique–and tight!– scramble. The end of the hike is appropriately named the Lemon Squeeze and you will understand why as we squeeze our bodies up through this crevice using sturdy wooden ladder grips up to the top where we will rest and enjoy beautiful views. We will then climb just a few more hundred yards to the very top where you can have panoramic view of the area.
We will continue our day by hiking down using a dirt path and will have some time to explore the incredible gardens of Mohonk before heading over to the picnic lodge where we will have our lunch. They make the most delicious brick oven pizzas and have great sandwiches and salads. Bring along a Frisbee or football and relax or play around after lunch before heading back to the hike that will return us to our van.

- Wear Comfortable, weather-appropriate athletic clothing, hiking boots, hat.
- Departure time 9:00 AM. Please arrive by 8:45 for check-in. Please check weekend subway schedules! Our trips leave on time.
- Departure Location Northeast corner of 73rd Street and Broadway, in front of Apple Bank. Subways 1, 2, 3 to 72nd Street.
- Return Time Approximately 6:30 PM
