Trip Recap: Hike & Yoga

This recap was originally posted June 11th on Caroline's blog "Sweet Caroline"

Yesterday I went on a hike, yoga and swim excursion with Urban Girl Squad and Discover Outdoors! It was a full day of adventure. Urban Girl Squad & Discover Outdoors provided us with transportation to and from the city, a guided hike and a 90 minute yoga session. Our guide, Marcus, was great; he was fun, knowledgeable and taught us a lot about hiking (like the first three things you should make sure you have on a hike: compass, map and whistle!). We went to Harriman State Park, which was absolutely beautiful and a perfect trip away from the city! If you're in the New York area, I highly recommend these two companies!

Harriman State Park is the second largest state park in New York, consisting of 31 lakes and reservoirs, over 200 miles of hiking trails, and three beaches. The park's hiking trails completely maintained by volunteers, cool!

Oh yeah, and the yoga? It was on the top of a mountain.

When I was little, I never really understood theÒpoint" of hiking. I would wear down really quickly and be dragging myself up the mountain after 20 minutes. As I got older though, I found myself enjoying it more and more. I embraced the fresh air and let myself get lost in my own thoughts. I'm glad I made the time for this hike.
