Meet DO Member, Braulia the Brave

There are a lot of "best parts of the job" when your job is to help people escape the city and explore the outdoors, but it's hard to beat the joy of getting to know our Discover Outdoors members, many of whom are courageous enough to hike, climb, ride, paddle and more for the very first time with us.
We asked one such member if she'd pen this post and weren't surprised when she eagerly accepted. Braulia is a rock star - daring, positive, curious and compassionate at every turn. She is a true adventurer. Enjoy her observations from a day in the woods with Discover Outdoors.
ÒHey Braulia, what are you doing in the woods," friends asked me when I started choosing outdoor trips over other weekend activities. I know the answer - the language of nature is the same that my heart speaks. It is difficult to translate into words, so I will share images from a Kaaterskills Falls trip with Discover Outdoors and hope that everyone joins our adventures!
After our guide, Marcus, introduces map reading for many of us with little or no experience, we eagerly prepare for the miles ahead, refreshing for mind and body.
No flooring beats nature's charming, flickering foliage.
As we hike up a few miles, the colors get awesomely intense and it's hard not to stop and capture the moment.
ÒI feel like I'm walking on a painting,Ò I hear someone say.
ÒIndeed! Even the Impressionists would have been impressed with this scenery," I answer.
My new fabulous friends and I are already looking forward to our next Discover Outdoors trip !
As we return home at the end of this invigorating day, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes:
