Memorial Day Weekend is here which means the unofficial start to summer. Luckily, I had a new hammock to try out. With the Grand Trunk Double Hammock
in tow, I headed upstate early Friday. Two days later, I have to say: the Grand Trunk hammock is a lot of fun.
In terms of the make-up of the product: it's sturdy, light, and seems waterproof (though I haven't had much of a chance to test this out). I appreciated that they included tree protectors with the ropes to limit the impact of my hammock sitting. With pre-tied knots and straightforward directions, we had it up and ready to use in the less than time minutes. It's comfortable and so big that when I was lying in it I could pull the sides up to create a cocoon for myself - perfect for sleeping in on a windy day (yesterday) and for a sunny day (hopefully soon).
As far as use goes, I would say this hammock is great if you're car camping or have a dedicated base camp where you can set it up to relax in. It's a bit too big and "single-purpose" to make it into my big pack for long distance backpacking.
Am I dreaming of summer days by the water? Yes.
