Gear Review: Leki Trekking Poles

Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Have you ever dreamed of hiking like a dog?

Hiking with four legs, a hanging tongue and a smile makes for a great day. I have no idea of how to give you a tail but I have a solution to turn you into a four legged animal - Leki Trekking Poles.

Even though knees are easily replaced by doctors these days your health insurance provider will thank you for the knee stress alleviation of a pair of trekking poles. My Leki poles have been through a lot in their four years of service and are going strong. They feature cork hand grips with adjustable slightly padded wrist loops which are kind of shredded these days but lend me some street cred.

I always have my poles on our trips with steep, rocky descents.

Tip - Most pole sets do come with a distinct left and right pole. Enter your wrist through the outside of the loop and twist. Your weight should rest on your wrist and your fingers should be free to wriggle or play a game of thumb wars.
