Gear Review: MSR PocketRocket

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
Central Park picnic season is right around the corner and I have the perfect tool to help you become the picnic champion of 2012.

The MSR PocketRocket is an ultra lightweight, affordable stove. Weighing in at only three ounces it allows you to carry more cheese on the way to fondue-town. The PocketRocket uses fuel canisters that are easily screwed on without any pumping, priming or small talk.

The tiny footprint and weight makes this a great stove to bring along for hot chocolate on day hikes or to cook some smelly fish on your balcony. Precision flame control means you can be the only day hiker cooking up a nutella crepe while everyone else drools and wishes they weren't eating another PB & J.

Tip- Throw your fuel canister into water and the amount of available fuel is equal to the amount canister below water level.
