Guide, Water Safety, Wilderness First Responder

Kevin's outdoor career began when he started walking and realized how fun it was to climb anything and everything. He started climbing trees, but quickly moved on to basketball poles, statues, rock gyms and ultimately real rock. He entered the boy scouts in grade school where he could combine his passion for climbing with hiking and camping.

What's your most memorable outdoor experience?
In college, we were doing some Gunks rock climbing in New Paltz when a microwave sized boulder fell from 50 feet right above where I was standing. Like Indiana Jones, I outran the boulder and managed to escape with gashes from the trees that I collided with along the way.

What is your greatest outdoor accomplishment?
Being Indiana Jones

What is your favorite thing about getting outside?
Pure freedom

Do you have a personal motto?
ÒSomewhere between the base and the summit is the answer to the mystery of why we climb" Greg Child

What is the best piece of gear in your pack?
The best piece of gear in my pack is my Camelback hydration system. It's the easiest, hands-free way to stay hydrated on the trail. It works great not only for hiking, but for skiing, snowboarding, biking or any outdoor sport.

Do you have a campfire specialty dish?
Beyond S'mores: This campfire recipe puts an outrageous twist on the traditional S'more:
a. Lay out a piece of aluminum foil, split a banana down the middle and place in aluminum
b. Top the banana with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crumbled graham cracker
c. Seal it in the foil and throw on campfire coals for 2 minutes, or until marshmallow melts
d. Open carefully and scoop with a spoon. Enjoy!

Nowadays in New York, Kevin guides for DO and works in digital marketing for education publishing.
