New Year's Eve White Mountains Celebration

Celebrate New Year's Eve Among the White Mountains of New Hampshire

Isn't it time to break routine on New Year's Eve and do something unforgettable?

On this Discover Outdoors Holiday, we whisk you to the stunning and snowy White Mountains in New Hampshire for an unforgettable winter adventure. From snowshoeing to huddling by a wood stove in an authentic mountain hut, we'll discover what it means to be backwoods mountaineers.

We will leave New York City the morning on Saturday and enjoy the scenic drive north, arriving mid-afternoon at our bunkhouse for the night, Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch. We'll stretch our legs with a moderate hike to get in some winter views. Tonight's home cooked meal will be the perfect preparation for the next day's adventure. After a good night's rest, we'll spend our day snowshoeing through the epic White Mountains on an adventure to a backcountry hut. After dropping our gear, we'll head out to tag the summit of Carter Dome. After our climb, we'll return to Carter Notch hut to spend a night like real mountaineers — huddled by a wood-burning stove in a modest mountain hut, telling tales and listening to the snowfall just outside.

The next morning, we can enjoy a leisurely breakfast cooked on the stove before packing up to head back down to the trailhead. Once back on the ground, we can focus on celebrating our feat and a new year. Tonight, we'll stay in a private bunkhouse in Crawford Notch and be able to toast to the New Year together. There's nothing quite like New Year's festivities while snuggled in a warm mountain cabin!

On Tuesday, we'll load up and head back to New York City, ready to take on 2019!
