Your Day

Today we'll set our sites for the East Hudson Valley region. Over the course of the day, our hike will take us over two summits with a beautiful stretch of trail along the ridge that connects them. Starting up a moderate climb, we'll get our hearts pumping as we ascend to Lamb's Hill along the Fishkill Ridge. Don't be fooled by the name. At 1,460 feet, this summit affords stunning views of the valley below. Continuing south, we'll traverse a more remote section of trail from which we can see views of Lake Valhalla and the Beacon Reservoir before reaching the summit of Mount Beacon. After some final photos from the top, we'll descend back to our starting point feeling accomplished and proud of our whole team.

Intensity

Level 6

Moderate - For fit and experienced hikers

Level 6 trips will push you with a faster pace and longer distances. This hard work allows you to see more terrain and higher vistas. You should expect to be tired and fulfilled on the van ride home.

Activity

We’ll be active for five to eight hours. Prepare for this trip by maintaining your daily fitness regime that includes both cardio and strength.

Distances

Be ready to cover some serious distance. We may hike up to twelve miles today, nearly a half-marathon.

Surfaces

We’ll be hiking on varying mountainous terrain, which will involve navigating rock faces, loose stones, and steep, uneven trails.

Elevation Change

Up to 2,000 feet per day.

Weather

Weather conditions can be quite different from the city in the mountainous regions we visit. Temperatures can be expected to be quite cooler as we head north or to higher elevations and we'll likely encounter more snow accumulation between early winter and spring. Keep your eyes out for an email from our team a few days in advance of your trip. That email will provide updated weather conditions and will alert you to anything additional you should put in your pack to prepare. Your guide will also make sure you have the necessary gear, such as snowshoes or microspikes, so you can have a great day in the snow. We head outside in any weather, as long as we know it's safe, and we don't let a little snow or wind ruin a chance for an adventure.
