Your Day

Raccoon Brook is notable for the marvelous diversity of its terrain and scenery. Join us as we climb to several high vantage points for magnificent views of the Hudson Valley. Throughout the hike, pass large boulders, wander through mountain laurel thickets, glimpse understories of blueberry bushes, and cross flowing streams. As you continue to climb, you will reach a rock ledge covered in scrub oak and pitch pine with a dramatic overlook of Harriman State Park to the southwest. Descending from our multiple vantage points, we'll come to Pine Meadow Lake for a relaxing break by the water to cap off our full and invigorating day.

We’ll be active for five to eight hours. Prepare for this trip by maintaining your daily fitness regime that includes both cardio and strength.

Be ready to cover some serious distance. We may hike up to eleven miles today, nearly a half-marathon.

We’ll be hiking on varying mountainous terrain, which will involve navigating various rock faces, loose stones, and steep, uneven trails.

Elevation Change

Up to 2,000 feet per day.

Up to 10,000 feet.

Weather conditions can be quite different from the city in the mountainous regions we visit. Temperatures can be quite cooler as we head north or to higher elevations. Keep your eyes out for an email from our team a few days in advance of your trip. That email will provide updated weather conditions and will alert you to anything additional you should put in your pack to prepare. We head outside in any weather, as long as we know it's safe, and we don't let a little rain or wind ruin a chance for an adventure. You can contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions about preparing for trail conditions.
