About the trip

Find yourself on the shores of a glacial lake

What We Love

  • Lush forest scenery
  • Follow the historic Appalachian Trail
  • Visit a glacial lake
  • Relaxing pace throughout the day

Your Day

We'll start our day on a clear path which will quick turn uphill. Though the grade is steep, we'll take frequent breaks along our warm up. Soon we'll be hiking along the famous Appalachian Trail (AT). At almost 2,186, the AT starts in Georgia and stretches up to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. Today as we follow the white blazes that mark the AT, we may even see a thru-hiker starting the New Jersey section of the trail. After enjoying a morning of hiking, we'll find ourselves at Sunfish Pond, a natural glacier lake created over 18,000 years ago. Sitting beside this ancient body of water, we'll enjoy lunch with an incredible view and swimming if the weather is warm enough. After lunch, we'll hike back to the van to finish a refreshing and photo-worthy day on the trail.

Perfect for: First time hikers, experienced hikers looking for a relaxing day

Weather conditions can be quite different from the city in the mountainous regions we visit. Temperatures can be quite cooler as we head north or to higher elevations. Keep your eyes out for an email from our team a few days in advance of your trip. That email will provide updated weather conditions and will alert you to anything additional you should put in your pack to prepare. We head outside in any weather, as long as we know it's safe, and we don't let a little rain or wind ruin a chance for an adventure. You can contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions about preparing for trail conditions.
