About the trip

Experience the gifts of the wild

The forest teems with gifts that humans relied upon for generations. From the wood used to create fire to the stones crafted into tools, items around us in the woods have so much potential to sustain us if we only know how to look.

If you've ever wanted to learn the essentials of outdoor survival, this weekend is for you. You'll spend two days mastering earth living skills such as friction fire, making shelter, and identifying wild edibles all while enjoying some time away from the city and in the great outdoors.

Weather

Weather conditions can be quite different from the city in the mountainous regions we visit. Temperatures can be quite cooler as we head north or to higher elevations. Keep your eyes out for an email from our team a few days in advance of your trip. That email will provide updated weather conditions and will alert you to anything additional you should put in your pack to prepare. We head outside in any weather, as long as we know it's safe, and we don't let a little rain or wind ruin a chance for an adventure. You can contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions about preparing for trail conditions.

Backcountry Camping

We'll be camping out for one night near a backcountry shelter. We'll be sleeping in backpacking tents - or possibly in a natural shelter of your building if you'd prefer. We do ask that everyone bring a tent should conditions make sleeping in a natural shelter difficult. Tents can be rented for $50/ea (rented tents are double-occupancy) or you can bring your own. Sleeping bag and sleeping pad rentals are also available. Food and communal gear will be carried up by the group, so be sure to leave space in your pack!
